Giving Begins at Home

  • One very simple way to give and prepare your home for the holidays is to sort out and
donate those items that you and your family are no longer using.

  • Get your kids into the spirit-- have them go through their toys to see what items are
in good enough condition to donate. (It's a good way to make room for any goodies they
    may get themselves!)

Look Locally

  • Check for local opportunities in your home town to see if you can donate your time or
needed items. Your church, a local soup kitchen or  store toy drives are great places to
    start.

  • Most supermarkets sponsor programs where you can buy a meal for a local family.

  • Ask a local senior citizen center or hospital if you can volunteer during the holidays.
Visit the library and offer your reading services. Get on the local decorating committee
    at the recreation center.

  • Head to the post office and ask them for a Dear Santa letter. Then take your kids with
you and let them pick out the toy and wrap it.  It teaches them a great lesson in giving.

Widen your Sphere of Influence

  • Want to do more? You can give financially to charities around the world. Find a
reputable charity organization with a cause that's close to your heart. You can use the
links below to find charities around the country that you can donate to or reach out to
    a charity of your choice.

However you give, give wisely and carefully. Research organizations carefully.
Giving doesn't have to be financial. Give of your time. Give from the heart.
