What to Wear? You'll always feel like you brought stuff you didn't need if you don't plot out a few outfits in advance. Pack clothing that can be mix-matched to cut back on the amount you bring. Use accessories like scarves or pins to jazz up an outfit and make it look like new.
What to Put Your Stuff In?
Have you seen the commercial where they show people going through the airport and their luggage just seems to disintegrate behind them, trailing their belongings as they go? Well don't be one of those people!
Check your zippers, seams and fasteners before your next trip. Taking the time now to see if you're bags are travel worthy sure beats searching for a cardboard box to ship your things home in!
How Will You Be Paying for That? Repeat these words...traveler's checks and credit cards.
Don't travel with wads of cash stashed throughout your bags. You'll be asking for trouble. Think about the easiest and safest way to take payment methods with you that can be quickly and simply replaced should they get lost or stolen.
Visit your local bank and call your credit cards to confirm that your methods of payments will work...check your credit limits and advise your credit card company that you will be using your card if it hasn't seen the light of day in a while. You'll help head off any potential issues and prepare them for unusual purchases.
Think of how you will be securing your cheques or credit cards while traveling to keep them safe.
Did You Pack Your Medication?
Refill your prescriptions ahead of time so you'll have what you need for the trip.
Check to make sure you won't need any special inoculations or medication for your destination.
Entertainment
If you're traveling with kids, and it's a long trip (like across town) do yourself and your fellow passengers a favor and bring along things to entertain your child. If it's an electronic game or toy, try to bring extra batteries and headphones.
Treat yourself to a show, spa day or sightseeing tour. Do a little upfront research to come up with a list of things to do on your trip. Be sure that your companions have a good time and plan something for everyone.
Sharing Your Memories
Take a journal along with your camera to capture impressions and jot down notes about your trip. It will make it easier when you're sharing your memories to include those funny stories or memorable moments.
Don't forget the batteries, chargers, film and/or memory cards for your recording equipment and camera. You would hate to leave home without them!
